On Wednesday, Mogo/RSU defeated the Jelgava side Zemgale/LBTU 3–2 in overtime at their home arena in an Optibet Hockey League game. Goals for Mogo/RSU were scored by Kristers Ansons, Jānis Zemītis, and Gatis Sprukts.

Kārlis Mežsargs started in goal for Mogo/RSU, while Aksels Ozols guarded the net for Zemgale/LBTU. Early in the game, the home team applied more pressure, with shots from Ingus Ločmelis and Rolans Vasiļjevs. Mogo/RSU opened the scoring when Kristers Ansons fired from the right flank. The puck flew through traffic and slipped past Ozols.

In the penultimate minute of the first period, the visitors struck twice. First, Patriks Zabusovs skated from the corner to the middle of the zone, spun 360 degrees, and beat Mežsargs with a precise shot past the left post. Just 17 seconds later, after a deflection, the puck dropped to Toms Mots, who put Zemgale/LBTU ahead.

In the second period, Gatis Sprukts and Gints Meija tested Ozols with solid attempts. Jānis Zemītis had a clear chance after a pass from Deivids Sarkanis but was unable to beat the visiting goaltender. However, the same duo later combined to level the score. Zemītis, again assisted by Sarkanis, finished accurately to make it 2–2.

The duel between the rivals grew increasingly physical, leading to several penalties. In the 33rd minute, multiple players became involved in a scuffle. Ansons and Māris Bičevskis were penalized for the home team, while Zabusovs and Rihards Marenis received penalties for Zemgale/LBTU.

Early in the third period, the visitors had an excellent chance to regain the lead when Gatis Gricinskis broke in alone, but Mežsargs made the save. At the other end, Ozols denied Kaspars Ziemiņš from close range. Despite chances for both teams, regulation ended tied at 2–2.

In overtime, opportunities continued. Krišjānis Rēdlihs and Kristaps Sotnieks came close for Mogo/RSU, while Marenis and Jonas Parviainen threatened for Zemgale/LBTU. The decisive moment came when Kaspars Ziemiņš won the puck along the boards and set up Sprukts, who blasted a precise shot into the top-right corner.

Notably, Sprukts had also scored the overtime winner when the teams last met on January 21.

Deivids Sarkanis was named best player for Mogo/RSU, while Patriks Zabusovs earned the honors for Zemgale/LBTU.

Mogo/RSU will play their next game on Saturday, February 14 at 13:15, facing the Riga Hockey School on the road.
