Latvia was represented at the international defense and security technology exhibition EUROSATORY 2026 by 36 companies and more than 70 company representatives, forming the largest Latvian defense technology delegation in the history of the exhibition to date. Over the course of five days in Paris, Latvian companies met with potential clients and partners, explored export opportunities, and strengthened their presence in international markets, while several companies announced significant international achievements.
One of the most notable events was the announcement by the Latvian defense technology company Origin Robotics that the French Armed Forces had selected the Latvian-developed BLAZE autonomous interceptor drone system. The decision was made following an international evaluation process organized by the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA).
EUROSATORY is one of the world’s most important defense and security technology exhibitions. This year, more than 2,000 companies and organizations from around the world participated in the event.
Latvia’s overall presence at the exhibition consisted of a national pavilion organized by the LIAA and a corporate exhibition coordinated by the Latvian Security and Defense Industry Federation (DAIF Latvia), while several Latvian companies, including Origin Robotics, Atlas UAS, and RedWire Riga, participated in the exhibition with individual booths.
At the exhibition, Latvian companies showcased solutions in the fields of unmanned systems, robotics, communications, energy, simulation, medical readiness, and other defense and security technologies, demonstrating the industry’s ability to develop internationally competitive products.
One of the solutions showcased at the exhibition was an unmanned ground platform developed by Electrify, designed to deliver ammunition and equipment to soldiers, as well as to evacuate the wounded in combat conditions. The platform was developed in collaboration with VIC TEC, which integrated a drone interception solution into it.
Ieva Jāgere, Director of LIAA, emphasizes:
“EUROSATORY 2026 confirmed that Latvian companies are increasingly solidifying their positions in the international defense technology market. Our companies offer solutions that interest partners and clients in various countries, and these discussions are increasingly turning into concrete projects, deliveries, and long-term cooperation. Of particular significance is Origin Robotics’ success in France, which demonstrates the ability of Latvian companies to compete in one of the most demanding defense technology markets in Europe. Technologies developed in Latvia are already becoming part of Europe’s security architecture, and the discussions in Paris provide a basis for anticipating new export projects in the future.”
New Collaboration and Export Opportunities
During the exhibition, Latvian companies met with potential clients, investors, representatives of the armed forces, and defense industry companies from Europe, North America, and other regions. In parallel with the companies’ activities, meetings were also held with representatives of institutions from France, the U.S., Canada, Italy, Slovakia, Brazil, Chile, and other countries, laying the groundwork for future cooperation and export projects.
One of the most significant events was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Latvia and the U.S. state of Arizona, which provides for the expansion of cooperation in the fields of innovation, defense technology, and business development.
Latvian companies are strengthening their positions in the European defense market
France’s decision to deploy the BLAZE system means that France will become the fourth NATO member state in Europe to use the solution developed in Latvia, joining Latvia, Estonia, and Belgium.
At the same time, it was announced that technology transfer and the start of system assembly and production in France would take place in collaboration with the French defense technology company DSV, which will ensure the delivery of the system to the French armed forces.
This achievement confirms that defense technologies developed in Latvia are capable of competing at the international level and securing a place in the procurement programs of NATO member states’ armed forces.
Latvia’s participation in the national pavilion was organized by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) as part of the European Union-co-financed Program for the Development of Innovative Entrepreneurship in Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, with support from the European Regional Development Fund and the state budget.
