Latvian basketball star Kristaps Porziņģis returned to Boston last night, now as a member of the Golden State Warriors, scoring 11 points in a game against the Celtics, where his team fell 99–120.
Porziņģis, who only recently played for Boston, received a warm welcome from the home crowd. However, his impact on the court was more modest than in previous games. He finished with 11 points, five rebounds and two blocks, while the initiative largely remained with the home team. Boston’s leaders Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum controlled the game, and the Warriors were unable to match their pace.
The performance marked a contrast to Porziņģis’ recent outings with Golden State, where he has often been among the team’s key contributors. A standout example came against the Washington Wizards, when the Latvian recorded 30 points, five rebounds, four assists and three blocks. He also delivered a strong showing against the Oklahoma City Thunder with 23 points, nine rebounds, five assists and five blocks, as well as in a previous meeting with Boston, where he posted 17 points and 12 rebounds.
Overall, Porziņģis’ performances for the Warriors can be described as consistent. He is averaging around 17 points per game, along with more than five rebounds and close to three assists, while maintaining nearly 46 percent shooting accuracy. His role in the team is versatile — he not only finishes plays offensively, but also stretches the floor with outside shooting and provides a strong presence on defense.
In this context, last night’s game in Boston was more of an emotional return than a statistical highlight. While his individual numbers were quieter, Porziņģis remains an important piece in the Warriors’ rotation, and his best performances show he is capable of being one of the team’s primary offensive weapons.
